SAN DIEGO?Participants of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society?s 2012 Light The Night Walk?will rally their forces for the fall campaign with a Kickoff luncheon at SDG&E?s Energy Innovation Center?on September 7.
The complimentary lunch event will be comprised of fun activities to get participants excited about the fall walk, speeches by honored heroes and will also include tips for successful fundraising.
Each year, in communities all across the United States and Canada, teams of families, friends, co-workers and local and national corporations come together to raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society?s (LLS?s) Light The Night?Walk events and bring help and hope to people battling blood cancers. Millions of consumers also help by donating at retail outlets. Light The Night Walk events are evenings filled with inspiration. During this leisurely walk, participants carry illuminated balloons ? white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory of loved ones lost to cancer ? thousands of walkers ? men, women and children ? form a community of caring, bringing light to the dark world of cancer.
?Light The Night Walk gives hope to patients and their families and lets them know they are not alone in their battle against cancer,? said Diana Wake, 2012 Survivors Team captain, ?My teammates and I are looking forward to a fun and successful walk.?
This year, the Light The Night Walk will be held on November 2 at PETCO Park in San Diego.
In 2011, more than $50 million was raised through Light The Night Walks in approximately 185 communities in North America. To form a team or to learn more, please call the San Diego/Hawaii Chapter at (858) 277-1800, or visit?www.lightthenight.org.
